Brand Marketers Rethink Their Roles And Their Ad Strategies

The recession has battered some of the nation’s biggest companies. Even so, top marketing executives believe social media and behavioral targeting technologies will help them boost business as the economy stabilizes and consumer sentiment improves.

A cautiously optimistic group of marketing executives from big companies, including Bank of America ( BAC - news - people ), Dell ( DELL - news - people ), Hewlett-Packard ( HPQ - news - people ), IBM ( IBM - news - people ), Mercedes-Benz USA and Xerox ( XRX - news - people ), gathered in Palm Beach, Fla., at the Fifth annual Forbes CMO Summit late last week. There they discussed ways they can rebuild trust and boost sales at their companies as the economy stabilizes.
